Sustainable Luxury

Environmental, Social and Governance

Sustainable tourism and corporate social responsibility are a key part of our company identity. We not only take all necessary steps to protect and support our local natural and historic environments, but prioritise support of our local community too: embracing culture and the arts; providing opportunities to enhance the educational level of the next generation; and contributing to the welfare of animals through our registered charity.

Enavsma Foundation

Inspired by the passion of our late founder, Alecos Michaelides, for the education of the new generation, we collaborate with Round Table 7 Paphos to provide postgraduate level scholarships to students facing financial hardship. To date, ten scholarships, with a total value of €132,000, have been awarded to local students, supporting their dreams in Cypriot universities and beyond.

Our hotels are dog-friendly and offer an array of comforts to guests’ four-legged friends. Continuing this passion, we established «SIMBA Animal Aid Cyprus » in 2019: a non-profit organisation dedicated to the rescue of neglected or abandoned local animals. The Company—and its many dedicated staff— cover all financial, operational and maintenance needs of SIMBA’s Nicosia dog shelter, providing care and finding forever homes for around 400 strays a year.

Water Management

At Amyth of Super Paradise, our initiatives include employee education on water management, dual flush toilets, timers for watering plants, and encouraging guests to reuse towels, reducing water, energy and chemical usage. Linen is changed every three days unless otherwise requested, conserving resources. Kitchen and bar staff also operate taps with foot pedals to prevent unnecessary water consumption.

Energy Management

Our energy-saving measures include centrally controlled public area lights with energy-efficient sensors. We have upgraded to energy-efficient chillers, air conditioning units, and LED light fixtures. Solar panels on the roof provide our hot water. Guest room keys activate electricity access, and lights automatically turn off 10 minutes after departure. Regular maintenance ensures optimal energy efficiency.

We prioritise Waste Management with recyclable materials for menus and gifts, recycling paper, batteries, toners, oil, and glass. Our kitchen uses reusable containers, eliminating clingfilm and promoting eco-friendliness. Local Products

Supporting Local Producers and Traditions

We prioritise locally produced items where available, including Mykonian yoghurt, cheese and milk, plus a range of fruits and vegetables native to the Cyclades. Our honey is sourced from a small Greek producer in Chalkidiki – part of our ongoing aim to support local businesses and promote regional sustainability.

At Thanos Hotels we believe that maintaining high ethical standards is a very important aspect, as strong ethics and good business go hand in hand. Therefore, we have created an environment where our people should feel comfortable speaking up when they suspect potential violations of laws and policies. Additionally, we urge our employees to demonstrate high standards of integrity and lead by example.
