Bio of the Artist:
Abbas Rizvi is a Toronto-based visual artist whose practice explores contemporary approaches to representation through a focus on drawing and painting. He studied at OCAD University, where he specialized in these disciplines, and spent a formative year in Florence, Italy, studying both classical traditions of image-making. In 2023, Rizvi visited Cyprus and was deeply inspired by the island’s landscapes and layered histories. Since then, he has embarked on an ongoing series of drawings and paintings that capture the beauty of its countryside and the enduring cultural richness of its cities, particularly Nicosia. His works balance close observation with lyrical interpretation, reflecting both the immediacy of place and the contemplative rhythms of history, memory, and perception.
